UK Traveling – Edinburgh

Edinburgh is Scotland’s compact, hilly capital. It has a medieval Old Town and elegant Georgian New Town with gardens and neoclassical buildings. Looming over the city is Edinburgh Castle, home to Scotland’s crown jewels and the Stone of Destiny.

What to do while in Edinburgh:

• Visit Edinburgh Castle: Edinburgh Castle is a historic fortress which dominates the skyline of the city of Edinburgh, Scotland, from its position on the Castle Rock. I’m a big history fan especially European history, I actually enrolled into college and European history was my major! So here is a history fact for my fellow history buffs: Archaeologists established human occupation of the rock since at least the Iron Age.

Where to eat:

Khushi’s: Best for: Casual-Dining and Child Friendly

Khushi’s have been open since 1947, Khushi’s claims to be Edinburgh’s first Indian restaurant. A recent restyling gives it a clean, modern feel, which mirrors the consistently zingy food on offer. Don’t skip starters – the stuffed tandoori mushroom (£6.50) and prawn kolhapuri (£6.95) are standouts. Mains from £8.50.

Leith Chop House
Best for: Casual dining, cheap eats

Fastidiously Scottish-sourced, it’s butchered and dry aged in-house for at least a month before the already legendary steaks hit the open-flame charcoal grill. The dripping chips and bread with bone marrow butter are no mere sideshows, either. Mains from £12.50, steaks from £18.
